    Raylene Blair, I don't know how you do it, but you Fastline folks always have terrific August weather for your event.

    What one would expect to be a typical steamy August morning turned out to be perfect - low humidity and a great temperature to run.

    Obviously, you thought the same thing because there was a large turn-out on Aug. 9 to benefit United Way, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity.

  • O'Bryan reels in first...

    CARROLLTON – Kaoru O'Bryan of Crestwood took top honors Saturday in Carrollton in the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League, catching four fish for a total weight of 11.1 pounds.

    O'Bryan has come in second nine times in similar tournaments, watching a lead vanish in the last minutes of a weigh-in.

    But Saturday as he stood on the stage with tournament director Dave Maxfield, handing him a trophy and a check for $3,878.00, O'Bryan looked relieved.

    “I always tell our kids at practice it’s hard hat, lunch pail, roll up your sleeves, time to go to work,” Martin said. “The way things are going around here, I think I am the one who needs the hard hat.”

    It’s humid, the air is sometimes polluted and high school athletes are dealing with it the best way they can.

    While temperatures soared into the upper 90s last week, it hasn’t been a bad year as far as the heat and humidity go for the local athletes.
