  • Region 8 Soccer Tournament...

    North Oldham is the host site for two games to start the Region 8 Tournament on Monday.

    The Oldham County Colonels will play Shelby County Monday at 8 p.m. at North. The winner will advance to the semifinals at Carroll County and will play the winner of Carroll - Grant County on Tuesday.

    South Oldham travels to Collins to play the Titans Monday at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will play either Simon Kenton or Owen County.

     SHELBYVILLE — North Oldham finds itself in uncharted territory.

    The Mustangs need to win next week at Franklin County to have any chance of making the playoffs, a streak they’ve held since 2007.

    In order to do that, North has to play well on both sides of the ball.

    North showed signs of improvement Friday night, but had no answer for Collins running back Naseasn Roseberry in a 42-24 loss to the Titans in Shelbyville.

    CRESTWOOD – Clayton Wirth reminisced to his freshman year as the last time Oldham County soccer was relevant in the region in 2012.

    Not only are the Colonels relevant this year in the region, but they’ve established themselves as one of the best in the state.

    The senior Wirth scored two second half goals to overcome a one goal deficit to South Oldham to help the Colonels claim the District 29 title in a 2-1 win Thursday night in Crestwood.

    CRESTWOOD – South Oldham has spent all year developing its new identity in a new era of Lady Dragon soccer. What the Lady Dragons’ have found as their strength is that possession can be the best defense.

    South played its best possession game of the year Thursday night to claim its second straight District 29 championship in a 2-0 win over Oldham County at Dragon Stadium.
