  • Big production, small package:...

CRESTWOOD – South Oldham prides itself on the ability to run the football efficiently using multiple runners.

As another successful season presented the expected wear and tear on a new group of ball carriers, senior fullback Shane Wilson has provided consistent – and nearly guaranteed – production to the Dragons’ run game.

  • KHSAA Class 5-A State Football...

CRESTWOOD — The defensive side of the ball was one of South Oldham’s more consistent areas as they transitioned from 23 graduated seniors from last year’s squad.

The defensive line and secondary brought back a few starters, but the linebacker position was left with big question marks as to who would fill the role left by Conner John, who walked on at the University of Kentucky after leading the team with 126 total tackles.

CRESTWOOD – South Oldham enters unfamiliar territory this Friday night.

It’s been 23 years since the Dragons have moved past the second round of the playoffs – a streak South broke with its exciting 33-27 victory over Fairdale last week.

Fern Creek finds itself in the same boat having not been to the regional final since 1998.

  • KHSAA Class 5-A State Playoffs:...

CRESTWOOD — Trips Left 81 Keanan Stick.

South Oldham last ran that play a year ago against Conner, but not since then. It’s three receivers left and Keanan John, South’s top receiver, on the backside to the right of the field.

It was a common theme all game: John facing one-on-one coverage with no safeties over the top and quarterback Drew Zaubi would let it fly hoping his man would make the play.
