  • KHSAA Class 5-A Football Playoff...

CRESTWOOD – South Oldham will host Southern Friday night to open the first round of the KHSAA Class 5-A state playoffs at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium.

A fourth-straight district title means a top playoff seed for the Dragons (8-2) and a match-up against a fourth-seeded team for another year, which has led to large-margin wins in the past.

This will be the first ever meeting between South and Southern, which finished the regular season 3-7 with wins against Atherton, Iroquois and Seneca.

It was late September with the start of the regular season two months away, and Irvin needed to make a quick decision.

He’s thankful the first person he called agreed to take on a new challenge.
