    Eight wrestlers from Oldham County schools finished on the podium at the KHSAA state wrestling tournament Saturday, Feb. 16 in Lexington at Alltech Arena. 

  • Former OCHS coach passes away

    Former Oldham County girls basketball coach Tony Simpson passed away Saturday, Feb. 16.

    Simpson, who was a teacher for Oldham County Public Schools, was an assistant coach for Oldham County boys basketball before becoming the head coach of the school's girls program. Simpson retired from teaching in 2014. 

  • North swimming sweeps regional...

     North Oldham girls and boys swim team won the Sixth Region title Saturday, Feb. 9 in Versailles. In its fourth year in the Sixth Region, North Oldham has claimed the regional title for the combined score all four times.

  • Oldham wrestling wins regional...

     A half-point made the difference.

    Oldham County wrestling slipped by Woodford County in the 10-team regional meet to claim the Fifth Region title Saturday, Feb. 9 in Goshen. The Colonels finished with 243 points to finish first while Woodford County placed second with 242.5 points.

    Ralls and Moore sign with EKU

    Oldham County’s Sean Ralls and Jalen Moore signed to play football for Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) last week.

    Ralls kicked and punted for Oldham County. He plans to punt and be a kickoff specialist for EKU, but said there could be an opportunity for field goal kicking as well.

  • Kentucky Flash add length and...

     The Kentucky Flash, La Grange’s semi-professional basketball team, begins its spring season next week.

    Coach Charles Hickman relocated the team from Dayton last year and the Flash competed in the National Professional Basketball Association (NPBA) 10-game fall season with homes games at La Grange Community Center.

  • Colonel wrestling finishes third...

    Oldham County wrestling placed third in the KYWCA Big School State Duals hosted at Lindsey Wilson College Saturday, Jan. 26 in Columbia.

    Oldham County defeated Ryle 34-29 in the first round.

    Caleb Bergquist won in a 10-2 decision over Trey Fleek in the 170 division. Marc Varella and Blake Young each had pins in the 220 and 285 division, respectively.

    Swim teams competed in the Winter Classic Invitational, Jan. 26 in Shelbyville.

    North Oldham won the meet with 469 points in the 15-team meet. Oldham County finished second with 463 points. South Oldham placed sixth with 197 points.

  • Boys Basketball: South outlasts...

    It might tough to beat a rival twice, but South Oldham boys basketball did.

    The Dragons defeated North Oldham 80-71 Friday, Jan. 25 in Crestwood. After a 76-56 victory over North Oldham in late December, South Oldham coach Steve Simpson knew it was going to be different the second time.

    Thirteen points was once again the difference.

    After South Oldham girls basketball defeated North Oldham 50-37 in late December in a Holiday tournament, the Lady Dragons once again defeated North Oldham, this time, 65-52 Friday, Jan. 25 in Crestwood.
