  • Girls Basketball: Oldham advances in districts

    Oldham County girls basketball defeated Trimble County 63-21 in the semi-finals of the District 29 tournament Tuesday Feb. 19 in Crestwood, ensuring itself a spot in the Eighth Region tournament next week. The Lady Colonels scored the game’s first 15 points and forced 22 turnovers in the first half to build a comfortable lead.

  • Former OCHS coach passes away

    Former Oldham County girls basketball coach Tony Simpson passed away Saturday, Feb. 16.

    Simpson, who was a teacher for Oldham County Public Schools, was an assistant coach for Oldham County boys basketball before becoming the head coach of the school's girls program. Simpson retired from teaching in 2014. 

  • Boys Basketball: Oldham routs Boyle County

    Oldham County boys basketball left little to chance with a fast start on senior night.

    After celebrating the careers of four seniors in a pregame ceremony, the Colonels defeated Boyle County 76-57 Thursday, Feb. 14 in Buckner. Oldham County scored 12 straight points to begin the game, holding Boyle County scoreless for nearly four-and-a-half minutes in the first quarter.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham tops Owen

    Oldham County girls basketball celebrated the careers of three seniors before defeating Owen County 61-57 Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Buckner. After leading by 11 points early in the fourth quarter, Oldham County's lead was diminished to two in the final minute. 

  • Boys Basketball: Collins tops Oldham

    Collins boys basketball defeated Oldham County 64-57 Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Buckner. The Titans defense disrupted the Colonels to build a double-digit lead in the first half, which was enough to withstand an Oldham County comeback attempt that came as close as five points in the fourth quarter.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham hosts Collins

    Collins girls basketball defeated Oldham County 77-73 Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Buckner. The Lady Colonels rallied from a 16-point first-half deficit to take a lead late in the fourth quarter, but didn't have enough answers for Collins in the final two minutes.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham edges Spencer County

    Defense brought Oldham County girls basketball back from a 10-point deficit with less than three minutes left.

    The Lady Colonels defeated Spencer County 62-57 in overtime Wednesday, Jan. 30 in Buckner. The Lady Colonels rallied from a double-digit deficit with less than three minutes left to force overtime, and then outscored the visitors by five in the extra period.

  • Colonel wrestling finishes third at state duals

    Oldham County wrestling placed third in the KYWCA Big School State Duals hosted at Lindsey Wilson College Saturday, Jan. 26 in Columbia.

    Oldham County defeated Ryle 34-29 in the first round.

    Caleb Bergquist won in a 10-2 decision over Trey Fleek in the 170 division. Marc Varella and Blake Young each had pins in the 220 and 285 division, respectively.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham edges Thomas Nelson

    It might not have been pretty, but Oldham County girls basketball found a way to win with a short-handed lineup. The Lady Colonels defeated Thomas Nelson 55-49 Saturday, Jan. 26 in Buckner. 

  • Boys Basketball: Colonels defeat Tates Creek

    The ‘next man up mentality’ worked for Oldham County boys basketball. The Colonels defeated Tates Creek 76-64 Saturday, Jan. 26 in Buckner with the absence of leading rebounder and second-leading scorer Christian Harper.

    Cole Mesker scored a game-high 26 points. Matthew Teague finished with 19 points and Sam Campbell added 11 points for Oldham County.
