  • Lady Colonels use second half run to beat NOHS

    CRESTWOOD – Getting back to the basics on defense improved the Oldham County Lady Colonels’ offense as they used a third quarter spurt to beat North Oldham 67-48 Wednesday in the opening round of the 29th District tourney.

  • Colonels power past Raiders in district

    CRESTWOOD – It was not pretty, but it got the job done as the Oldham County High School Colonels beat Trimble County 57-39 Tuesday in the first round of the 29th District tournament.

    The Colonels, 20-7, overcame several periods of sloppy play to stay in control for much of the game behind a game-high 17 points from senior guard Dylan Henderson.

  • Colonels win regional wrestling crown

    MIDDLETOWN – It was a fine day for the Oldham County High School wrestling team Saturday.
    The Colonels took the Region V team title with five individual champions on a day highlighted by junior Cody Bishop’s 13-10 upset of Joe Rupp at 140 pounds.

  • Colonels beat Simon Kenton

    BUCKNER – After weathering Simon Kenton’s counter punch, the Oldham County Colonels came back with their own haymaker to knock the Pioneers out in a 57-49 win Friday.
    OCHS, 18-6, dispatched a team many considered their main rival for a regional crown with a 12-2 run just before the end of the first half.

  • Colonels edge Mustangs in low-scoring game

    GOSHEN – Fresh off a run-and-gun rout of rival South Oldham, the Oldham County Colonels were forced to play the opposite way coming out with a 37-36 road win over North Oldham Friday.
    “Man, this one was a lot different than the last game,” OCHS senior guard Blake Payne said. “It was really hard to get into any kind of flow, but we won.”

  • Henderson leads Colonels by Dragons

    BUCKNER – Dylan Henderson picked the right time to showcase his new game.
    Henderson, a senior guard for the Oldham County High School Colonels, broke loose for 24 points before a packed house Friday to lead the Colonels to a 75-60 win over cross county rival South Oldham.

  • McMurtrey emerges as star for Lady Colonels

    BUCKNER – The faster the game the better Ashley McMurtrey likes it.
    McMurtrey, a 5-foot-8 freshman guard for the Oldham County High School Lady Colonels has emerged as the perfect fit for coach Steve Mullins’ fast-paced system averaging a team-high 17 points a game this season.

  • Colonels win seventh in state duals meet

    BUCKNER – On a day when they finished right where they were supposed to according to their ranking, the Oldham County High School wrestling team was oh-so-close to moving up.
    The Colonels, ranked No. 7 in the state, took eighth place in the 16-team state wrestling duals tournament Saturday in Lexington.

  • Parker helps Norsemen win title

    LOUISVILLE – Final exams are a bit easier to beat this semester for Shawn Parker.
    Parker, a sophomore soccer player at Northern Kentucky University and the the rest of his teammates, celebrated a bit of a break from finals by winning the NCAA Division II national championship Saturday at the University of Louisville soccer complex.

  • Fairfleid is second in Dr. Pepper throw

    BUCKNER – After a perfect preliminary round, Matt Fairfield didn't quite have the day he expected in the Dr. Pepper Tuition Throw at the Southeastern Conference championship football game Saturday.
    Fairfield, an Oldham County High School senior, came in second in the throw losing to a female student 7-5 competing to attend Belmont University.
