North Oldham

  • Injury Advantage

BUCKNER — A slight misstep on another player’s foot is all it took.

Until North Oldham boys’ basketball senior center Devon Rowan came down on another player’s foot with 2:05 remaining in the second quarter, the Mustangs had control of the game at Oldham County and led 21-18.

Rowan returned from the play, in which he sprained his left ankle, but NOHS never looked the same again.

  • North blasts off early over Atherton

GOSHEN— It didn’t take long for the North Oldham football team to get rid of the bitter taste of last week’s first loss of the season.

After receiving the opening kickoff from district opponent Atherton, the Mustangs marched down the field, scoring on a 21-yard strike from quarterback Cameron Renaud to wide receiver Jacob Sanders for a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game, setting the tone in a 61-0 route at home.

  • Mustangs' undefeated season stopped short

SHELBYVILLE— There will be no undefeated season for North Oldham football.

Collins' Austin Nakatani’s 23-yard field goal with 3:51 to play propelled the Titans to a 24-22 victory over the Mustangs in a key Class 4A, District 3 game at Shelby County’s Robert Doyle Stadium Friday night.

“It was a very good high school football game, we came up just a little bit short,” North Oldham Coach Billy Martin said.

Less than a yard to be exact.

LOUISVILLE--- The games really start to matter now. South Oldham welcomes Conner at 7:30 tonight for the Dragons' first district game. They'll be looking to rebound from last week's overtime loss at North Oldham.

  • Right place, right time

CRESTWOOD--- There was just a feeling that North Oldham junior middle back Amanda Marques had.

On match point, Marques lined herself up on the right side of the net.

  • The timeliest of cutbacks

GOSHEN--- Thanks to North Oldham sophomore running back Quinton Shea, Mustangs coach Billy Martin will never have to worry about what he might’ve done.

On third down in overtime, Shea took a left pitch from senior quarterback Cameron Renaud, cut back inside and jaunted into the end zone to give North Oldham a 41-38 thriller over South Oldham.

  • North tames Panthers

ELIZABETHTOWN — Zach Evans and the North Oldham Mustangs were a lot like the Beach Boys on Friday night. They were gonna run, run, run until daddy took the T-bird – or in their case, TD – away.

  • Second Half Gallop

GOSHEN--- With his team gathered in the end zone after the game, North Oldham coach Billy Martin raised his visor, wiped his brow and smiled.

“I think we need a day off,” he told his players. “I don’t like saying it, but take tomorrow off.”

    “Yeah!” the players responded.
