  • The decision on whether to rent or buy a home is a difficult one. There are many factors at play, and not all are financial. When my wife and I bought our home, we had to think hard about our motives. Was it a good financial decision? Were we blinded by our emotions?

  • E-cigarettes, vapes, and similar tobacco devices are not safe alternatives to cigarettes. Nor is the aerosol or vapor emitted by e-cigarettes safe. It contains additives, heavy metals, ultrafine particles and other toxic ingredients that pose health risks, especially to the lungs and heart. The science is clear, e-cigarettes pollute the air.

  • Introducing yourself is an art. You don’t want to sound too conceited; yet you don’t want to sell yourself short. You don’t want to get too personal, but you want people to get a feel for who you are as an individual. Regardless, here goes nothing.

  • In seminary we had speech class to prepare us for the pulpit and for the countless times we would be speaking in public. The hardest part is that we had to present our talks to our fellow classmates and critique each other. We were challenged to practice every element of speaking: our tone of voice, our facial expressions, our eye contact and the content of our talk.

  • Holiday letters are a wonderful way to reconnect with friends and neighbors; they afford the opportunity to step back, smile, remind us of our connections near and far and to reflect on changes from the past year and plans for the future.
