Today's Opinions

  • Optimistic for 2016

I’ve got a feeling that 2016 is going to be a good year.

I have no idea where it’s coming from, but it’s there.  This is going to be a good year.

Maybe it has something to do with where I am this year in contrast to where I was last year.

  • New year, old me

    By Ginger Lumpkin

I’ve been hanging out down in Chattanooga for a couple of days. Meeting with friends I haven’t seen for a quarter of a century, and taking a bit of time for a much needed respite from the craziness that is everyday life.  The holidays pretty much zapped my will to live, but I’m optimistic about the new year, and am trying to start off right.

I hope you and your family had a blessed and safe holiday season.

  • Being considerate of others good for you

Your life is as big as your capacity to consider others.  Caring about other people is essential to your own happiness.  So is letting other people care about you, and making that easier for them.  Beyond the fleeting happiness that pleasure can bring comes the lasting happiness that caring about others can bring.  The happiest people are always the most altruistic.

  • What is a Good Day?

So often people will tell me to have a good day. Just what is a good day?

To have a good day is to find our pristine momentum while cherishing and balancing each of the elements of our lives. By balancing purposefulness with moderation, people with tasks and discerning our pace of grace, we will achieve this not-so-modest goal.

  • New Year, new opportunity

    By Taylor Riley

It’s that time of year again! You know, the time that everyone you know invites you to use his or her guest pass at his or her overcrowded gym facility. It’s the time to jump on the bandwagon of wishful thinking that this year will be YOUR year.

    Happy New Year!
