    Four years ago in a wheat field outside the small French town of Dommartin-lès-Remiremont, Olivier Bena, a 48-year-old manager of a cheese factory, was searching the field with a metal detector.

  • Fiscal to vote on zoning change for distilleries

    An ordinance proposing changes and updates to the county’s zoning regulations received a first reading by the Oldham County Fiscal Court during its July 16 meeting.

    The county Planning Commission gave their recommendation to the fiscal court that they accept the proposed changes.

  • Boys Soccer: North outlasts South

    North Oldham boys soccer rallied from an early deficit to defeat South Oldham 3-2 in Crestwood Sept. 21. The Mustangs guaranteed themselves a spot in the Eighth Region tournament and the District 29 final with the victory. 

    Drake Pyle scored two goals and Charlie Christ added a goal for North Oldham. Patrick Butler and Nathan Allen each scored a goal for South Oldham.

  • Dragon football romps Colonels

    South Oldham’s offense was as every bit as good as its defense in a game that was never close. The Dragons extended their winning streak to nine games over their rival, defeating Oldham County 49-0 in Crestwood Sept. 20.

  • Boys Soccer: Trinity answers Oldham

    Oldham County boys soccer missed an opportunity to make a statement.

    Trinity (Louisville) defeated Oldham County 3-1 in Buckner Sept. 19. After the Colonels took an early lead, Trinity scored three unanswered goals in a match between two teams ranked in the top 10. 

  • Field Hockey: South and North go to overtime

    In a season of firsts, North Oldham field hockey defeated South Oldham for the first time in program history Sept. 19 in Crestwood. Ryan Bramer scored a game-winning goal with 15.8 seconds left in overtime to lift North Oldham to a 1-0 victory and remain undefeated.

  • Girls Soccer: South tops North

    Heightened expectations have led to better performances.

    South Oldham girls soccer sealed a spot in the Eighth Region tournament and District 29 final with a 4-2 victory over North Oldham in Goshen Sept. 18. The Lady Dragons improved to 12-1 with the victory over their intra-county rival.

    The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced Hallie Searcy the women’s cross country runner of the week Sept. 3.

  • Oldham County resident leads Sarcoma run

    It took an effort from everyone, but an Oldham County woman led at the forefront of Louisville’s inaugural Race to Cure Sarcoma. Gina Bottom, a 12-year sarcoma survivor, called the event “almost magical” in the way that everything came together.
