  • Boys Basketball: South falls to Gallatin

    Gallatin County boys basketball defeated South Oldham 79-75 Saturday, Feb. 2 in Crestwood. The visitors trailed South Oldham by 12 points early in the second half, but used its full-court press and efficient offensive attack to outscored the Dragons by 16 points in the final 15 minutes. 

  • Boys Basketball: Mustangs outlast Atherton

    North Oldham boys basketball defeated Atherton 67-50 Saturday, Feb. 2 in Louisville. The Mustangs outscored Atherton by 15 points in the fourth quarter. 

    Dallas Roberts had a team-high 21 points while Tyler Higdon finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Grant Adelson added 14 points for North Oldham. 

  • Girls Basketball: North Oldham routs Atherton

    North Oldham girls basketball matched its program high for wins in a season with a 55-8 victory over Atherton Saturday, Feb. 2 in Louisville. The Lady Mustangs had the game’s first 32 points and held Atherton scoreless for the opening 11 minutes to improve to 15-7.

  • Girls Basketball: North defeats Trimble

    North Oldham girls basketball earned its first district win of the season with a 58-40 victory over Trimble County Friday, Feb. 1 in Goshen.

    Kelsey Lubker had a team-high 17 points while Riley Neal finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Sophie Hale added 12 points for North Oldham.

    Neither team played its best basketball offensively in the first quarter.

  • Girls Basketball: South rolls Bullitt Central

    South Oldham girls basketball defeated Bullitt Central 81-55 Thursday, Jan. 31 in Shepherdsville. The Lady Dragons led the entire game to improve their record to 16-6. 

    Skylar Sahatjian had a team-high 15 points. Brynna Blackburn finished with 13 points while Zoey Holland had 12 points. Payton Herold added 10 points and five rebounds for South Oldham.

  • One person injured in Prospect barn fire

     A fire in Prospect last night left one person significantly burned.

    The Harrods Creek Fire Station responded to a fire at Sutherland Farm around 6 p.m. Jan. 30.

  • Girls Basketball: Oldham edges Spencer County

    Defense brought Oldham County girls basketball back from a 10-point deficit with less than three minutes left.

    The Lady Colonels defeated Spencer County 62-57 in overtime Wednesday, Jan. 30 in Buckner. The Lady Colonels rallied from a double-digit deficit with less than three minutes left to force overtime, and then outscored the visitors by five in the extra period.

  • Mustangs sweep Winter Classic Invitational

    Swim teams competed in the Winter Classic Invitational, Jan. 26 in Shelbyville.


    North Oldham won the meet with 469 points in the 15-team meet. Oldham County finished second with 463 points. South Oldham placed sixth with 197 points.

  • Colonel wrestling finishes third at state duals

    Oldham County wrestling placed third in the KYWCA Big School State Duals hosted at Lindsey Wilson College Saturday, Jan. 26 in Columbia.

    Oldham County defeated Ryle 34-29 in the first round.

    Caleb Bergquist won in a 10-2 decision over Trey Fleek in the 170 division. Marc Varella and Blake Young each had pins in the 220 and 285 division, respectively.

  • Kentucky Flash add length and size for spring

     The Kentucky Flash, La Grange’s semi-professional basketball team, begins its spring season next week.

    Coach Charles Hickman relocated the team from Dayton last year and the Flash competed in the National Professional Basketball Association (NPBA) 10-game fall season with homes games at La Grange Community Center.
