  • Police investigate drowning death of woman found in Glenarm pond

    A Crestwood man discovered his wife’s body floating in a pond behind their home about 9:30 a.m. June 26 on Glenarm Road.

    Police believe Margaret Mary “Maggie” Stonebrook, 46, drowned after falling face-first into a pond adjacent to their property in the 4800 block of Glenarm Road. According to police, Stonebrook wore a nightgown at the time of her death.

  • P&Z increases fees

    For the first time since 2005, Oldham County’s Planning and Zoning fees increased.

    A second reading of the fee schedule took place at the fiscal court meeting on July 1.

    The schedule passed with a vote of 8-1.

  • Business is booming at the Oldham County Jail

    The Oldham County Jail provides a service to the public and the court system, keeping criminals off the streets. The jail is also, however, a business, receiving revenues from the state and federal level for housing state and federal inmates.

  • County will form storm water utility, set rates

    Officials must set a rate for Oldham County storm water management, but before that, a storm water management district must be established.

    The first reading for two ordinances - one to grant fiscal court approval to establish a special district, and one to establish a base rate for service – took place at fiscal court’s July 1 meeting.

    Students named to Georgetown dean’s list

    During the spring semester, 11 students from Oldham County were named to the dean’s list at Georgetown College.

    The dean’s list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 hours and a 3.7 grade-point average.

  • Javanon wins Midwest

    LOUISVILLE – With six players from Oldham County playing a key role, the Javanon 92 select soccer team won the Region II soccer title in the United States Soccer Association tourney.

    The team advances to the national championship tourney July 25-29 in Little Rock, Ark.
