  • Trial date set for Oldham County murder

    Four years after a man was arrested for the murder of an Oldham County High School graduate, a trial date has been set.

    Miles Matthews, of Indiana, is accused of murdering Oldham County High School graduate Adam Gregg. Gregg’s body was found in July 2014 just off the driveway of a farm at 5400 West Highway 42, according to a previous Era report.

    Monica Zaring has spent her life without answers, but the Shelby County resident could be the reason others finally get some.

    Zaring has a rare form of dwarfism called Saul Wilson Syndrome, and thanks to her help, researchers have managed to identify the specific gene that causes Saul Wilson Syndrome.

    A gaggle of students begin to crowd their way into an expansive classroom at the end of a long hallway Oct. 12.

    As they put their backpacks away into containers by the door, talk begins to devolve into homework and what will be happening in class that day. Maybe in most classes, a regular day would include learning about George Washington or the Pythagorean theorem.

    A La Grange woman has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine. 

    La Grange Police said they served a search warrant on at Sheila Stansberry’s home at the 1100 block of Heatherbourne Drive in La Grange on Friday night.

  • Oldham County Public Library names new director

    The library is more than just books and computers, and the new director of the Oldham County Public Library (OCPL) hopes the public knows that.

    Jessica Powell was recently named the new director of the OCPL.

    Susan Eubank, who oversaw the main library’s move to its new building in La Grange, retired as director of the OCPL after 33 years in 2017.

  • Prospect Chamber hosts mayoral forum

    Around 50 people came out to First Baptist Church of Prospect Oct. 9 to hear about the issues from Prospect’s two mayoral candidates.

    Sponsored by the Prospect Chamber of Commerce, the forum hosted incumbent John Evans and challenger Scott Whitehouse.

  • St. Francis breaks ground on $3M expansion

    Surrounded by students in matching hard hats, St. Francis School in Goshen broke ground on a $3.1 million dollar campus expansion Oct. 4.

    The project includes a new main entrance and lobby, and an amphitheater almost double its current size.

  • Oldham County Schools proposes rebalancing plan

    Oldham County Schools presented a new plan to balance out the elementary schools to parents this week.

    The public rebalancing process has been taking place monthly since May. In June, the district presented nine possible re-districting plans. In August, they narrowed it down to four plans.
