    The 5th annual Fall Practice and Player Camp will be held at South Oldham High School November 18-21. 

    For new players sticks will be provided and basic skills will be  introduced. 

    For returning players, full gear is needed as you practice and play under the lights at South Oldham’s Dragon Stadium.

    The cost is $60. 

  • Middle school cross-country wins titles
  • North Oldham volleyball wins district

    North Oldham’s volleyball team beat Trimble County and Oldham County last week in Goshen to win the District 29 championship. The Lady Mustangs beat the Lady Colonels 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-19) in the championship match.

    The Lady Mustangs continued their winning ways Monday night at the Region 8 tournament at Simon Kenton High School in Independence, defeating Collins 3-0. That clinched a spot for North in the region semifinals Wednesday night against Simon Kenton in a game that was played after The Era’s press deadline.

  • OC, South host Senior Nights Friday

       Oldham County will look to close the regular season with a win at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Jeffersontown.

       The Colonels (2-7, 0-3 Class 6A, District 5) lost their fourth straight last Friday when they fell 39-13 to Ballard in their final district game.

       Quarterback Jeremiah Bosco went 11-of-18 for 82 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

       OC beat J’Town 16-12 last season and has won five of the last six meetings.

  • North football sees district chances slip away at Collins

    SHELBYVILLE – If it could’ve gone wrong for North Oldham football Friday night, it did.

       That’s how Mustang coach Billy Martin diagnosed North’s 35-6 loss at Titan Stadium, a defeat that cost the Mustangs a chance to win Class 4A, District 3 outright.

       North (6-3, 3-1 district) instead finishes second in the district behind Collins (7-2, 4-0) and must go on the road if it makes the second round of the playoffs.

       North Oldham will continue its postseason run against Region 4 champion Bowling Green at 5 p.m. Saturday at Henry Clay High School in Lexington. The Era talked with Zach Greenwell, prep sports reporter at the Bowling Green Daily News, to learn more about the Purples in advance of Saturday’s game.

  • Oldham home to some quality soccer

       It’s been a pretty special soccer season this fall here in town.

       The last two weeks especially have showcased just how competitive the beautiful game is in our county.

       North Oldham, Oldham County and South Oldham’s boys and girls soccer teams have spent the recent days going through the postseason, from districts to region to state. During that time the county has showed it’s far and away the soccer class of Region 8.
