  • Flu cases showing up early in Kentucky

    Flu season usually gets underway in October, but we’re already seeing cases locally.

    Last year, a record number of kids died from the flu. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the flu is more dangerous for children than the common cold. Hospitals see an average of 20,000 children under age 5 each year due to complications from the virus.

  • Bebelaar finishes fourth at state

    Molly Bebelaar saved the best for last.

    The senior from South Oldham finished fourth in the KHSAA girls golf state championship with a seven-over 151 in the two-round tournament at Bowling Green Country Club Wednesday Oct. 3.

  • LG&E/KU requesting rate increase

     LG&E and KU are planning a $2.2 billion investment starting this year and running through October 2019, and with the planned infrastructure improvements the company will ask for a rate increase on residential customers that could be more than $9 per month.

    South Oldham field hockey defeated North Oldham 6-4 Tuesday Oct. 2 in Crestwood.

    Sarah McDowell scored three goals while Anna Crump added another two for South Oldham. Hadley Kuzmicky finished with two goals for North Oldham.

    Two late goals lifted Ballard boys soccer to a 2-0 victory over Oldham County Monday Oct. 1 in Buckner. The visiting Bruins scored two goals within 48 seconds with less than nine minutes left in the second half to defeated the Colonels on Senior Night.

  • Mustang football defeats Spencer Co.

    North Oldham football brought its record to .500 and increased its winning streak to two games with a 21-13 victory over Spencer County Friday Sept. 28.

    Brendan McAfee connected with Ben Becerra for a 62-yard touchdown pass to give North Oldham a lead midway through the second quarter.

  • Colonel football romps North Bullitt

    Oldham County football earned its first district win of the season with a 48-14 victory over North Bullitt Friday Sept. 28.

    Parker Caudill completed 5 of 10 passes for 103 yards and three touchdowns. Lucas Jones rushed for 54 yards while Juan Tapia added 51 yards on the ground. Jalen Moore had four receptions for 93 yards and three scores for the visiting Colonels.
