  • Duplexes approved on Ky. 22 in Crestwood

    Planners approved a development of 11 duplexes on Ky. 22 in Crestwood Monday and granted the appropriate zone change for multi-family housing.

  • Writers of the Month

    Locust Grove Elementary recently named “Writers of the Month.”  Students submitted writing throughout the past month and those named were selected by a committee. Each student was called down during an assembly to receive a certificate and a pencil.

  • La Grange resident will compete in Miss Kentucky pageant

    Samantha Winters, 21, of La Grange will compete for the title of 2009 Miss Kentucky U.S.A. on Dec. 19 at the Lovett Auditorium at Murray State University. 

    Winters is the daughter of Mark and Jan Viehmann and Michael and Nancy Winters.  

  • Rehabilitation facility appoints dedicated specialist

    Oaklawn, a rehabilitation and long-term care facility in Louisville’s east end, has appointed Jason Miller, M.D. as in-house Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist beginning Nov. 3.

    Students in Colleen Davis’ freshman geography classes at South Oldham High School are trying to bring visibility to “the invisible” by raising awareness of the hardships faced by children growing up in Uganda.

    The holiday season is a time when busy people can become careless and vulnerable to theft and other holiday crime. The Oldham County Police Department encourages citizens to be alert and cautions while shopping, especially during the holiday seasons. 

  • Engagement: Stutzenberger-Powell

    Ross and Joyce Branscum of Eminence and the late Gary Stutzenberger announce the engagement of their daughter, Jamie Helen Stutzenberger to Kenneth Dwight Powell, son of Kenny and Patti Powell of La Grange.

  • NOHS finishes marching season

    The North Oldham High School Marching Band ended their 2008 season in the State Semi-Finals for the second time in their six-year history. The band, under the direction of Kyle Ray, Amy Fisher and Marc Richardson, finished 15th in the State of Kentucky in Class AAA competition at Meade County High School on Nov. 1.  The band has been invited to perform at Disney World in May. 

  • Sharing Good News

    Good News Homes hosted a fundraiser Nov. 22 at the La Grange Community Center. The organization provides transitional housing for families and works with homeless individuals in Oldham, Trimble and other surrounding counties. At the event, visitors had dinner, could participate in a silent auction and kids could get their faces painted or jump in an inflatable.

  • Wilson named Recruiter of the Year for the state

    Sgt. Adam T. Wilson was named Recruiter of the Year. He is a recruiter for the entire state of Kentucky and parts of Southern Indiana and Southern Ohio. 

    He works at the recruiting station in Louisville.
