     Habitat Field Day planned

    Pollinators are in decline and need assistance. To help increase their habitat in the area, the Oldham County Conservation District will hold a field day on Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. to demonstrate how to establish a wildflower habitat for all pollinators.

  • Schultz named OC schools superintendent

    SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Bullitt County’s loss will be Oldham County’s gain.

    Greg Schultz, who has spent the past eight years as assistant superintendent for student learning in Bullitt County, will become superintendent of Oldham County Public Schools on July 1.

    For Schultz, it is an opportunity to return to his educational home. But until then it is likely he won’t get much sleep.

  • Cigarette thefts cost Circle K nearly $1,300

     A string of cigarette thefts have hit the Prospect Circle K, Police Chief Jeff Sherrard told Prospect’s City Council during their April 18 city council meeting.  

    The suspects work in groups of two or more.  One enters a store and drops a case of beer to create a distraction, and while the attendant is cleaning up the mess, another suspect enters the store, takes as many cigarettes as possible and leaves.

  • Park equipment donated to Creasey Mahan might not be accepted

     Although Goshen City Commission voted unanimously during its March meeting to donate playground equipment permanently to Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, the commission discussed during its most recent meeting, April 18, whether or not they would be footing the bill to move it all anyway.

  • Burning banned until October

     Beginning May 1 and continuing through Sept. 30, open burning is prohibited in Oldham County, due to being designated by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency as “non-attainment” air quality for ozone and particulate matter because pollution levels have exceeded those permitted by the Clean Air Act.
