  • PTA mom pleads guilty to theft, but won't serve time in jail

    A Liberty Elementary volunteer charged with theft of $13,300 from the school PTA won't serve jail time unless she violates probation.

    Melanie Winkle, 39, 2701 N. Ky. 53, La Grange, faced theft and forgery charges for checks she wrote from the PTA account while serving as treasurer.

    Winkle forged the PTA president's signature.

    Assistant Commonwealth Attorney Berry Baxter said Winkle has made restitution with the PTA.

  • Farm manager shot on L’Esprit Parkway

    Police are investigating a shooting at a horse farm on L’Esprit Parkway in Henry County.

    Kentucky State Police received a 911 call Sunday alerting officers that the farm’s manager, Gregorio Figueroa Calderon, 29, had been shot.

    Calderon was transported to University Hospital in Louisville for life-threatening injuries.

  • Man pleads guilty to 2009 murder

    More than two-and-a-half years after the shooting death of 33-year-old James E. Bailey, prosecutors reached a plea agreement with his alleged killer, Jason E. Parr.

    Parr quietly answered, “Guilty,” to five of seven indicted charges as Judge Karen Conrad read them aloud on Tuesday.

    Paul Douglas Peters, the alleged "collar bomb" fugitive arrested in Oldham County, appeared before magistrate judge Dave Whalin Wednesday to waive his right to extradition.

  • Copper thieves strip cafe, community center

    Thieves looking for an easy payday have been targeting air conditioning units and other copper sources in the Oldham County area recently, including at least 11 incidents in the past month.

    Many of the thefts have been in the Crestwood area, including four units reported stolen Aug. 31 behind Latte Cafe and nearby businesses. Businesses in the 6300 block of Ky. 146 have lost the copper from eight outside units and one inside unit, according to Oldham County Police.

  • Sexual abuse of two Alzheimer's patients alleged at La Grange nursing home

    La Grange Police are investigating reports of sexual abuse at The Richwood nursing home in La Grange.

    According to police, alleged sexual abuse was reported around noon Tuesday at the nursing home, 1025 Richwood Way in La Grange. 

  • Homeowner confronts duo stealing copper

    Two men allegedly stealing copper in broad daylight Friday are now behind bars.
    Oldham County Police responded to the 9800 block of Ky. 329 in Prospect on Friday morning after a homeowner confronted and detained one of the men allegedly involved.
    Police arrested 32-year-old Roscoe Thompson of Jeffersonville, Ind. about 10:30 a.m.

  • Swiped debit card is swiped all over La Grange

    La Grange Police received numerous tips in the case of a woman allegedly swiping a stolen debit card at restaurants and retail stores in Oldham and Henry counties after her photo appeared on several media websites and newscasts.
