    Mrs. Rice lived in Jefferson County before she and her husband moved to Oldham County more than
    40 years ago.
    She worked tirelessly with 4H, Republican and Farm Bureau organizations in Jefferson County.
    When she moved to Oldham County she was very active in the Republican party serving as precinct captain and poll worker.

    Elmer H. Kinney Jr., 76, of Florida, formerly of Kalamazoo, Mich.passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at his home, with family by his side.
    Kinney was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
    He was the son of the late Elmer and Johanna DeBruin Kinney Sr.
    On April 13, 1962, he married the love of his life, Nancy A. Hopkins Kinney.
    Survivors include his wife, Nancy A. Hopkins Kinney.
    Services were April 6.
    Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home of Kalamazoo handled arrangements.

    William “Bill” Frederick Watts, 78, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Baptist Hospital Northeast.
    He was born May 25, 1933 to the late Leslie and Inez Hendricks Watts.
    Watts was a 1951 graduate of Manual High School. He signed to play professional baseball where he spent five years in the minor leagues.
    He attended Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn. from 1956-1957 where he met the love of his life, Patricia Hogan, and they were married in 1958.

    He was born Sept. 6, 1932 in Thorsby, Ala., the son of the late Samuel Floyd Mims and Nettie Jane Clements Mims.
    He was a purchasing agent for General Electric with more than 33 years of service, where he was a member of the GE Elfun Society.
    Mims was a U.S.
    Navy veteran of the Korean War.

    He was a carpenter and baptist by faith.
    Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wentworth Rutherford; sons, Robert Allen Rutherford and Wayne Long; daughter, Patricia Richie; sister, Carolyn Shewbaker; 11 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren.
    Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Oldham County Funeral Home, 706 W. Jefferson, La Grange.
    Burial will take place at Newcastle Cemetery.

    He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
    Survivors include his wife, Carol Joliff Coble.
    Services are 11 a.m.  Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 N. Fifth St in La Grange.

    Ida Margaret Covington, 91, peacefully passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
    She was the youngest and sole surviving offspring of Grover Cleveland Holderfield and Mary Temple Holderfield of Milton. She and her five siblings were raised in La Grange.
    She married Robert Levi Covington in 1941 and after 55 years of marriage and a successful military career, he preceded her in death in 1997.

    Hendrik “Henry” Porter van Nagell, 63, of Goshen and Marco Island, Fla., passed away peacefully April 10, 2012.
    He was born April 7, 1949 to Captain John R. and Rosamond M. van Nagell.
    He was a lifelong member of St. James’ Episcopal Church of Pewee Valley.
    Van Nagell graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1971 with a bachelor of science degree in Agriculture and Animal Services.  
    He also served in the U.S. Army.

    Visitation is 6 p.m. Monday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood.  
    Burial is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cave Hill Cemetery.
