Thanks to the Humane Society of Oldham County (HSOC), one teenager who has a rare disease has found his new “best friend.”

Two years ago, Louisville resident Shane Roof was diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM). “Within a span of about 8 to 10 hours, he was paralyzed from the neck down,” Shane’s mother, Alex Roof, told the Era.
