Former South Oldham quarterback Drew Zaubi has accepted a preferred walk-on spot on the University of Louisville football team, which he announced on Twitter Thursday May 24. The three-year starter passed for 4,699 yards and 65 touchdowns while rushing for 1,134 yards and 24 scores as part of the winningest class in South Oldham history.

"U of L was the right school because Bobby Petrino is such a smart coach and U of L has such a quality program I couldn't pass on the playing and learning opportunity," Zaubi said.

Zaubi directed an offense on a team that had three consecutive 10-win seasons, including a trip to the Class 5-A state semi-finals in 2016. The 6-foot-4 pro-style quarterback holds an offer from Morehead State University, according to Rivals.com.

The U of L coaching staff asked Zaubi if he would be interested in walking on last Saturday and he met with the coaches Tuesday.

"They said they wanted me and I had a chance to compete," Zaubi said. "After that meeting I felt it was the right choice."

After spending his freshman year at Trinity (Louisville), Zaubi transferred to the school in Crestwood and ran a triple-option for South Oldham coach Jamie Reed’s offense. Zaubi is set to graduate from South Oldham June 9 and will report to the U of L football program in July.
