A Westport woman is accused of stealing approximately $30,000 worth of jewelry from a Prospect home.

Theresa Jeffrey, 37, was arrested June 18 and charged with theft.

According to police, Jeffrey stole from a Prospect home she was hired to clean from Oct. 1, 2018 through Feb. 21, 2019.

Her employers found 11 pieces of jewelry missing from a jewelry box after Jeffrey cleaned their home. They told police that she was the only other person that had access to their property.

Police discovered through their investigation that Jeffrey began selling the stolen jewelry in pawn shops in Jefferson County three days after she began working for the victims, according to court documents.

One of the victims was able to identify the stolen jewelry from photos taken at the pawn shop.

Jeffrey was also indicted by an Oldham County grand jury June 14 on the charge of third-degree complicity to burglary.

In that case, she “engaged in a conspiracy with James H. Nalley to commit burglary in the third degree” at a home in Crestwood, according to the indictment.

She is being held on a $5,000 cash bond at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. If released, she is not allowed to clean homes anymore.

Her next court date is scheduled for June 28.
