Two men have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery at the Thornton’s on Highway 146 in Buckner.

Douglas A. Orr, 28, from Pleasureville, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, first degree assault and receiving stolen property. John Manning, 47, from La Grange, was arrested as an accomplice in the crime and charged with complicity to robbery, first degree and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to Oldham County Police, an armed robbery was reported at 1:53 a.m. Friday morning at the Thornton’s location. Police said a white male, who they identified as Orr, entered the store wearing a mask and attempted to rob the gas station.

During the robbery, the clerk was shot and was transported to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening injury. Orr then fled the scene.

Orr, Manning and a third person, Holly Bardis, were arrested later Friday. Bardis was not charged in connection to the robbery, but was arrested on another warrant when found with the two men.

The Oldham County Sheriff’s Office, La Grange Police and Louisville Metro Police assisted OCPD in the investigation.

On Monday, Orr and Manning appeared in District Court for their initial arraignments, pleading not guilty to their charges. Both men requested public defenders and a reduction in their bond conditions, but the reductions were denied.
