A corrections officer has been charged with raping a prison inmate.

According to an arrest citation, Kentucky State Police was dispatched to Luther Luckett Correctional Complex yesterday afternoon for a complaint of a “corrections officer having sexual relationship with an inmate at the complex.”

Tanya Risinger, 34-years-old, is a corrections officer with Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, which is operated by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. The center's facility is housed under Luther Luckett.

According to the citation, Risinger told police she was employed as a corrections officer with Luther Luckett. Lisa Lamb, Department of Corrections spokesperson, later clarified that Risinger was a psychiatric center employee and not an employee with Luther Luckett.

Risinger was advised of her Miranda Rights by police and stated to them she had “sexual intercourse” with a male inmate.

Risinger said the sexual contact took place in a cafeteria at the psychiatric facility before breakfast about 10 days ago while she was supervising the inmate and another inmates.

Risinger also told police she got a second cell phone so the inmate could contact her.

She allegedly said this was the only sexual contact she had with the inmate or any other inmate while being employed with the psychiatric center.

Risinger lives in La Grange and is currently being held in the Oldham County Detention Center.

She is charged with third-degree rape. Her bond was set at $10,000.
