A La Grange man was arrested for raping and stabbing a woman who gave him a ride from the Circle K in La Grange, according to Oldham County Police.

La Grange resident Eric Johnson, 36, was arrested yesterday on the charges of first-degree rape and second-degree assault.

Just before midnight on May 2, the victim gave Johnson a ride from Circle K. Johnson and the victim do not know each other, according to court documents.

It is unknown from the arrest citation where the alleged assault happened in Oldham County.

“The victim reports that she was then forcibly removed from the vehicle, stabbed in the leg and sexually assaulted,” according to the arrest citation.

She also required staples to the back of her head from the incident.

A forensic examiner, who analyzed a sexual assault evidence kit, confirmed the assault, according to the citation.

Oldham County Police Department detectives were able to identify the suspect from surveillance video at the Circle K. The Circle K in La Grange is located at 425 Highway 53.

Police served a search warrant on Johnson’s home in La Grange and found evidence that implicated him in the crime.

Johnson is being held in the Oldham County Detention Center. A bond has not been set yet.

He is scheduled to appear in Oldham County District Court for arraignment on Monday May 20.
