Pewee Valley man allegedly shot his sister

A Pewee Valley man allegedly shot his sister last Thursday night. 

Oldham County Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Maple Avenue in Pewee Valley around 10 p.m. Sept. 6. 

When they arrived on scene, they saw the victim June Dean walking toward the road. Police say she was bleeding from the shoulder.

June Dean told police that her brother, Lawrence Dean, 62, shot her with a rifle.

Lawrence Dean lives at the home where the shooting occurred.

Police were unable to immediately locate Lawrence Dean that night. After an arrest warrant was issued, he came to the Oldham County Police Department and gave a statement Sept. 7.

Lawrence Dean told police he was involved in the shooting.

He is charged with attempted murder and first degree assault. He is booked in the Oldham County Detention Center.

The status of the victim was not immediately known. 

His bail is set at $100,000.
