OCHS Volleyball coach passes away

Oldham County volleyball coach Vince McDonough passed away Sunday Oct. 21. His daughter, Sarah McDonough, announced his passing on Facebook Monday Oct. 22.

“My father, Vince McDonough, passed away just before 4 p.m. yesterday,” Sarah McDonough said in a Facebook post. “I have waited to announce this so his teams and loved ones could all be notified directly.”

McDonough coached Oldham County High School’s volleyball team for seven seasons, from 2012-2018. The Lady Colonels reached the state tournament in 2013 and appeared in the Eighth Region final six consecutive seasons.

McDonough also coached for the Union Volleyball Club.

“Vince’s impact on the local volleyball community has been has been great,” Union Volleyball Club said in a Facebook post. “He has had such positive impact on many many young women over the years.”

The family is waiting to confirm the date of his visitation and funeral.
