North Oldham volleyball cruised to a straight set win (25-7, 25-11, 25-12) over Trimble County in the semi-finals of the District 29 tournament Tuesday Oct. 9 in Buckner. The Lady Mustangs advance to the district final to face the winner of Oldham County and South Oldham Thursday Oct. 11.

In a win-or-go-home match, Lady Mustang coach Kayla Koerber said North Oldham wanted to take care of business while working some of its younger players into the rotation.

"We ran a 6-2, we usually run a 5-1, we wanted to spread the ball around to get them varsity reps in the postseason," Koerber said.

Addison Foote had seven kills while Emily Goddin, Hannah McGill, Olivia Roberts, Ryan Bucher and Meredith Kovarovic each finished with five kills. Brie Postema had 15 assists and four aces. Madison Junion tallied eight digs and four receptions.

The Lady Mustangs won the first three points in the first set as Postema connected with McGill and Foote for kills. Trimble County won three consecutive points, but North Oldham answered with a point by Roberts and an ace from Junion.

Postema had back-to-back assists to Foote, followed by another to McGill, forcing Trimble County to call a timeout as North Oldham took an 11-3 lead. After the timeout, Roberts had a kill and a block, followed by another kill set by Jozie Stiles.

Stiles connected with Roberts once again to extend North Oldham’s lead to 16-6 while Roberts followed with an ace. A block by Emily Goddin increased the Lady Mustangs’ advantage to 18-6 and North Oldham won the next point on an ace from Roberts.

In the final portion of the first set, Kovarovic had a block while Karly McNeil had a diving dig that led to a point.

Foote started the second set with a block to help North Oldham win the first three points. Trimble County called a timeout after the Lady Mustangs took a 12-7 lead. Midway through the set, Foote had two kills as North Oldham opened its lead to double-digits.

The Lady Mustangs captured their 24th point after Junion had a dig that led to a set from Stiles, which allowed McGill to knock down a kill.

Kelsey Hillebrand had a block early in the third set to give North Oldham a 7-2 lead, forcing a Trimble County timeout.

Postema had three straight aces to push North Oldham's advantage to 18-8.

The Lady Mustangs finished off the match as Foote had a kill for a 23-11 lead. Lindsey Adams had an ace to end the final set.
