Gustavo’s Mexican Grill is hosting a fundraiser in honor of fallen Oldham Countian and Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Deidre Mengedoht.

All three locations will be donating 10 percent of the proceeds from dine-in and carry out orders from 5 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11. to Detective Mengedoht’s family.

Mengedoht was killed in a fiery accident on Interstate 64 on Christmas Eve while conducting a traffic stop. A semi-truck traveling eastbound struck the back of her vehicle with her inside, before pushing her police car into another vehicle. The driver has since been charged with murder and operating under the influence.

Gustavo’s Mexican Grill owner Gustavo Reyes said he met Detective Mengedoht at his restaurant several years ago.

“It broke my heart to hear about her passing,” Reyes said.

Reyes said he’s known her 10-year-old son Preston since he was a baby.

“Preston is a great kid and we are doing this for him and his family,” Reyes said. “We are a great community and I am sure we all can help somehow.”

Gustavo’s Mexican Grill is located at 6502 Westwind Way in Crestwood, 1226 Market Street in La Grange and 6051 Timber Ridge Drive in Prospect.
