Former principal of Liberty Elementary dies at 50

The former principal of Liberty Elementary School has died after battling cancer.

Connie Jean Hayes Daub died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at home. She was 50.

She served as principal of Liberty Elementary from 1999-2007.

A native of Grayson County, she started her education career at H.W. Wilkey Elementary in Grayson County, where she served from 1983-1990.

She also worked in Hardin County at Bluegrass Middle School from 1990-1999 and most recently served as campus administrator of the DuValle Education Center and Carter Traditional Elementary Magnet School in Louisville.

Daub earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Kentucky University. In 2007, she earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Spalding University.

She retired in 2011.

During her tenure as principal of Liberty Elementary, she also served as Oldham County's Academic League Coordinator.

She was a member of the Southeast Christian Church in Louisville and had served as president and also treasurer of the Kentucky Association of Elementary School Principals.

Services are 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, with the Rev. Charlie Smith will be officiating.

Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
