A Buckner business is destroyed after catching on fire early this morning.

Five fire departments responded to a large fire at Wild West Motor Company, located at 4700 Old La Grange Road at approximately 4 a.m. this morning.

No one was inside the building at the time, according to Wild West Motor Company Owner Dave Wade.

“It’s a disaster,” Wade told the Era.

Wild West Motor Company, which creates custom motorcycles, moved to Kentucky in 2008, according to the company’s website. Gregory's Garage, an auto repair shop, was connected to Wild West Motor Company.

South Oldham Fire Chief Edward Turner said his department arrived on scene at 4 a.m. July 30 and did not leave until approximately 10:30 a.m.

La Grange Fire and Rescue. Ballardsville Fire and Rescue, North Oldham Fire Department, Oldham County EMS and Anchorage Middletown Fire and EMS also assisted at the scene.

One firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion.

The cause of the fire was undetermined at the time of press. The Oldham County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

“We will recover somehow,” Wade said.
