Earth Hour 2009 involves lights out on Saturday night

 The City of La Grange will be participating in World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour.  

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, participants are asked to shut off all non-essential lights for one hour.  For information, visit www.earthhour.org. La Grange is one of two cities in the state planning to participate.  The event is touted as a global movement – a vote for the future of planet Earth. Hundreds of millions of people are expected to take part by switching off non-essential lighting for an hour. Cities from Las Vegas to Sydney, from Cape Town to Beijing will go dark for an hour. Worldwide there are 2140 cities, 18783 businesses, 82 countries, and 5481 organizations participating.
