The Oldham County Schools Arts Center welcomes you to experience the power of the arts and cultivate the artist within by becoming a part of their brand new dance program.

Through dance, students travel down a path of self-discovery where creativity, self-discipline, social skills and life skills are nurtured along with a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

The OCS Arts Center’s vision is to share the joy of dance with students of all ages and inspire and motivate the community to embrace the art of dance all in a nurturing, structured, and age appropriate environment.

After having success with summer dance camps including the Lavelle Smith Dance Camp, and the year round performing company, the Oldham County Performance Troupe, the OCS Arts Center is launching a new Dance Program. Based on the success of these programs, it is a natural progression to expand and offer a full-fledged dance program.

Under the direction of Mary Jane Stoess the program will offer a structured curriculum with class offerings in ballet, tap, jazz, social dance and more.

There are four divisions of the program, Preschool division with combination classes in ballet and tap, the Primary Division for school aged children, and the Youth Division for older children, and Social Dance which includes ballroom, Latin dance classes, and swing.

Classes are available for students 3 years old through adults. The year will culminate with a Spring Dance Concert at the North Oldham Theatre June 2, 2012.

The Oldham County Schools Arts Center kicks off the Dance Program with an Open House and Registration from 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 6.

Families are invited to peruse the studios, meet the faculty, buy dancewear, and receive their class schedule placement for fall 2011/2012. For more information call 502.241.6018 or visit www.ocsartscenter.org.
