Champions of the Week: Nov. 27-30

Each week through the end of the school year, The Oldham Era will honor a female and male Athlete of the Week based on their performance and attitude in varsity sports. At the end of the school year, The Oldham Era will host a banquet to announce one female and one male athlete as Athletes of the Year. The Oldham Era will also select Seasonal Athletes of the Year for fall, winter and spring sports. All honorees will be featured in The Era’s Athletes of the Year magazine. Each honoree will receive two complimentary tickets. Parents and fans who also wish to attend will have the opportunity to purchase tickets.

David Levitch

Class: Senior

Sport: Basketball, will walk on at UL

School: North Oldham

Claim to fame: Scoring 32 points as his team moved to 2-0 on the season with a with 61-50 win against Mercer County.

Favorite athlete

“Josh Smith from the Atlanta Hawks. When he came into the league, I don’t know, I just picked him. He’s nothing like me but I just started to like him and have like him ever since.”

Why basketball?

“I just started at a young age. It was actually that and soccer. When I was 12, I stopped playing soccer and picked up basketball full time.”

Is getting the chance to play at louisville a dream come true?

“Yeah, it’s a big dream come true. I’ve been a fan of them all my life. I can’t wait.”

Has coach pitino given you anythng to work on this year?

“Yeah, just strength, obviously. I need to stronger and then working on basketball stuff, too.”

You’re part of very talented recruiting class next year. Could you see a possible repeat should they win it all this season?

“I was looking at the guards the other day and they’re amazing players. I think we can definietly make a run at it.”

What about louisville draws you in as a fan?

“My dad has always had season tickets so we’ve just always gone to the games. They’re awesome games to go to.”

Do you have any favorite memories from north?

“Beating South Oldham at South Oldham during districts was definitely one to remember.”
