    CRESTWOOD – Invited by a Locust Grove Elementary teacher, Sean Nuernberger took one of his days home last week from college to participate in the school’s field day.

    Nuernberger, a former Oldham County football kicker and likely Ohio State University’s starting kicker this fall, spent the day playing with kids, signing autographs and talking to them about playing college football.

  • Elzy elected to KHSAA Hall of...

    An Oldham County girls basketball legend has been elected to the Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame.

    Former Lady Colonel Kyra Elzy was one of 10 members announced Sunday as the Hall's Class of 2015. The class will be the 28th to be inducted into the Hall on March 21, 2015 at the Lexington Convention Center.

    The KHSAA described Elzy as "one of the best girls’ basketball players to come out of Kentucky."

    South Oldham girls lacrosse will be hosting a free lacrosse clinic on Saturday June 14 between 9 a.m. and noon.

  • Bridgmohan to ride in Belmont

    An Oldham County resident will be aiming to deny California Chrome the Triple Crown Saturday.

    Goshen’s Shaun Bridgmohan will be aboard Commanding Curve in the Belmont Stakes, the last leg of the Triple Crown. Post time is 6:52 p.m., with the race broadcast on NBC.

    Commanding Curve finished second under Bridgmohan behind California Chrome last month in the Kentucky Derby.

    The Dallas Stewart-trained colt is owned by West Point Thoroughbreds. He ran a half-mile in 47 1/5 seconds Sunday at Belmont Park in his last workout.

  • NOLL hosts Home Run Derby

    Clay Benefield, 20, knocked it out of the park and won the grand prize at the first Sonic Drive-In Coaches, Parents and Adults Home Run Derby at Walsh Park on Saturday, May 24. Thirty-seven batters hit 268 home runs in three rounds of batting at the fundraiser for the North Oldham Little League.

    Jason Shingleton and Kyle Wuchterl joined Benefield in the final round. Sonic Drive-In sponsored the event by donating $1 per home run to the winner’s charity of choice. Benefield chose to donate the $268 to Veteran’s Memorial Monuments.
