  • Girls soccer: North tops South,...

CRESTWOOD – Playing in a district with Oldham County and South Oldham, North Oldham’s girls have been overshadowed in the past.

The Lady Mustangs have sat and watched as the Lady Colonels and Lady Dragons both represented their district in the Region 8 Tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

North stopped that trend over the last week.

The Lady Mustangs won 1-0 at South on Monday night at Dragon Stadium, four nights after beating OC 2-1 in Goshen.

  • Stephens: Wildcats showcase...

LEXINGTON – The University of Kentucky’s 17-7 win against Vanderbilt on Saturday wasn’t easy on the eye.

Unless, of course, you’re a former defensive back, defensive position coach and defensive coordinator like UK coach Mark Stoops.

“That was a thing of beauty,” Stoops facetiously said as he opened his postgame press conference. “For a defensive guy, it was.”
