  • Boys golf: Shamrocks nip...

PPROSPECT – The race to watch Tuesday at Nevel Meade Golf Course was the one for second place.

St. Xavier obliterated the field at the Region 6 Tournament, shooting a 276. But each region is allowed two entrants into the state tournament, and the second spot was up for grabs between Trinity and North Oldham.

One year ago at Midland Trail in Louisville it was the Mustangs who beat the Shamrocks, 305 to 306, for that runner-up spot and state tournament berth.

  • Girls soccer: North tops South,...

CRESTWOOD – Playing in a district with Oldham County and South Oldham, North Oldham’s girls have been overshadowed in the past.

The Lady Mustangs have sat and watched as the Lady Colonels and Lady Dragons both represented their district in the Region 8 Tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

North stopped that trend over the last week.

The Lady Mustangs won 1-0 at South on Monday night at Dragon Stadium, four nights after beating OC 2-1 in Goshen.
