North Oldham’s defense had a perfect October.

The Mustangs (7-2) recorded their fourth straight shutout Friday night, beating East Jessamine (3-6-1) 41-0 in Goshen.

North’s goose-egg victory came on the heels of shutouts on Oct. 10 against Waggener (53-0), Oct. 17 against Atherton (49-0) and last week against Collins (43-0). The Mustangs haven’t allowed a point since a 21-13 loss at Spencer County on Sept. 26.

  • Football: Colonels put together...

JEFFERSONTOWN – Mike Shatzer is still in the early stages of building Oldham County’s football program to his liking.

But for one wintry night at a nearly-empty stadium, the Colonels got a glimpse of what they hope might be the future, convincingly beating an opponent and having some fun along the way.

Quarterback James Harding threw two touchdown passes to Carson Axtell and ran for another as OC beat Jeffersontown 35-14 on the road Friday night.

  • Friday football primer: Teams...

It’s tune-up week for the county’s three football programs.

North Oldham, Oldham County and South Oldham will all play their regular season finales Friday before beginning the state playoffs on Nov. 7.

For OC and South, Friday is a chance to fine-tune things and go into the playoffs with some momentum.

North will have that objective Friday too, but can also improve its playoff seeding with a win and a little help from a school in a neighboring county.
