    Oldham County is off to a 0-3 start after losing 49-7 at Franklin County Friday night.

    Senior Carson Axtell returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a Colonel touchdown, but that was the only score all night for OC.

    The Flyers (2-0), ranked No. 4 in Class 5A, scored the game’s final 49 points.

    CRESTWOOD – On a Friday night where neither team could get a stop, it was a Connor John defensive play that finished off a landmark South Oldham victory.

    John returned an Anderson County interception 35 yards for a touchdown with 1:25 left and his team up by just two points, sealing a 52-43 South win at Dragon Stadium.

    The win was the Dragons’ (2-0) first ever in 11 tries against the Bearcats (1-1).

    CRESTWOOD – South Oldham scored the first four goals Thursday and eased to a 6-2 home win at Dragon Stadium against St. Francis.

    Lady Dragon freshman Emily Durham and junior Storm Thompson scored two goals each.

    “We communicated well and worked hard,” Thompson said.

    Durham scored South’s first goal with 17:02 left in the first half off a Thompson assist.
    Thompson made the Lady Dragon lead 2-0 more than 10 minutes later off an Avery Periard assist.

    He allowed one student to go out and remove two metal barricades separating the rubber track at Dragon Stadium from the turf field.

    The administrator then temporarily held back the students while waiting for South and St. Xavier soccer players to shake hands.

    “Dance with the girl we’ve brought” has been a motto for South coaches this season.

    In past years the Dragons have gotten too creative in game planning for individual teams to the point that it becomes a detriment, coach Jamie Reed said.

    This year South, ranked No. 7 in Class 5A by the Associated Press and coming off a win against Collins, is sticking with what it does best – running the ball.
