Six days after finishing their district schedule with a perfect 3-0 record, the South Oldham Dragons looked like a different team for the first three quarters of Monday’s game against visiting Jeffersontown.
Though they did fight in the fourth quarter to erase a staggering 13-point deficit, it was too late as a combination of hot shooting from the Chargers and sloppy ball handling from the Dragons led to a frustrating 71-69 loss.

Whether it be on the pool walls, in the lobby hall of fame — which showcases a number of great swimmers ­— or in the waters of the pool itself, IUPUI’s Natatorium in Indianapolis exudes an aura of championship swimming.
That certainly made the Shelby Sharks, a Shelbyville based swim team with plenty of Oldham County flavor, feel right at home as they took to the water at the Carmel Invite.

Nearly 10 months after closing the 2011-12 with a loss in the regional final, the South Oldham Lady Dragons took the first step Monday in a return appearance, sweeping their district schedule with a 56-39 win over Trimble County.
It certainly didn’t take long for them to assert themselves as a 17-3 push in the games’ opening minutes was enough to give South all the momentum needed for the rest of the game.

With Tuesday night’s district showdown between rivals South and North Oldham looming, the Dragons took to the court a little early Jan. 29, ending the school day with a blacklight themed pep rally to prepare students for one of the most important games of the season ­— a rivalry game that was the deciding factor for the 29th district race.
In addition to recognizing many winter athletes, the rally pitted students against their peers and the faculty members in a series of challenges, including a dance-off.
