  • Lady Dragons gaining momentum...

CRESTWOOD —South Oldham lacrosse coach Bob Newton hopes his team’s best playing days are still to come, and it seems that the Lady Dragons are warming up to those days now. South capped its home schedule with an 11-4 win over Atherton last Thursday for Senior Night. South, only in its second year with a girls lacrosse program, graduates 10 seniors that Newton calls the “backbone” of the program.

  • BASEBALL: Lashley homer propels...

GOSHEN -- Oldham County catcher Jaxon Lashley watched five opposing players cross home plate in the first inning of the Colonels’ loss to North Oldham on Tuesday. He and the rest of the Colonels saw the momentum shift it provided for North, which held on for the win.

Oldham County returned the favor 24 hours later.

Lashley blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to set the tone for the Colonels on their way to a 7-4 win over North Oldham Wednesday night in Goshen.

Trailing 2-0, North scored four unanswered runs to defeat the Lady Colonels 4-2 Wednesday night in Goshen for the first time in five years.

The Lady Mustangs have won six straight, shutting out three opponents and allowing just three runs during that stretch.
