  • New faces, new season for...

     After winning the Eighth Region and an appearance in the KHSAA state tournament last year, the Colonel baseball program went through a massive overhaul. Scott Gerlach, the head coach of the program for 11 years stepped down and 13 seniors from the 30-win team.

    While many other sporting events were canceled because of frigid temperatures on Tuesday, the Oldham County girls lacrosse team played in nearly unbearably conditions in Buckner. Mercy defeated the Lady Colonels 9-7.

     It has been a process of growth in the first several years of the Oldham County girls lacrosse team’s existence. In its third year, 13 seniors, many of whom started with the program as sophomores have seen the program develop in their time.

  • Boys Basketball: South Oldham...

    South Oldham used a fourth quarter surge to advance to the semi-finals of the Eighth Region tournament. The Dragons defeated District 32 winner Walton Verona 76-64 after going on a 12-1 run in the first three minutes of the final period of play.

    Devin Young scored a team-high 20 points and Jo Griffin added 16 for the Dragons.

  • Boys Basketball: Collins defeats...

    After a year plagued with injuries, a fully healthy Collins team ended Oldham County’s season in the first round of the Eighth Region tournament at Henry County on Wednesday night. The Titans used a run late in the third quarter to take their first lead in the second half and held off a feverish Colonel comeback in the final minutes to win 62-59.

    The Lady Colonels’ season came to an end on Monday night with a 66-41 loss to Simon Kenton in the first round of the Eighth Region tournament. Alexis Head scored a team-high 13 points and Sophia Head added nine for Oldham County.

    Three weeks after University of Louisville basketball head coach Rick Pitino visited Crestwood to watch the South Oldham - Eminence boys basketball game, South Oldham senior guard Jo Griffin decided to play for the Hall of Fame coach's program. Griffin announced on Saturday morning that he accepted a preferred walk-on spot to play basketball at Louisville.
