  • Field hockey preview: Sport is...

North Oldham and South Oldham have been playing field hockey for awhile but this year both schools will compete for a KHSAA title for the first time.

The state’s high school sports governing body announced earlier this year that field hockey will be an officially sponsored fall sport, starting this season.

That move will hopefully create growth in the number of teams competing across the state, North coach Michelle Dixon said.

And on the rare occasions Rocket ball carriers broke through the South line, linebackers Nick Bass and Connor John were there to make tackles.
