  • Oldham Aces hosting district...

    The American Legion Post 39 Oldham Aces baseball team are hosting the District II baseball tourney today (Thursday) and Friday at Oldham County High School’s Larry McMillin Field.

    Along with the Aces, teams from Morehead, Ashland, Shelbyville, Paintsville and Greenup County will compete.

    The double-elimination tournament starts at 9 a.m. today when the Aces take on Morehead.

  • Swimming for Apple Patch

    GOSHEN – The pool at Glen Oaks Country Club is always a popular spot in the summer, but it was even busier July 15 thanks to the Glen Oaks swim team.

    More than 75 members of the team and their parents participated in a 26-mile swim-a-thon to raise money for the Apple Patch Community.

  • SOHS cross country sets practice...

    The South Oldham High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams will practice at 7 a.m. at Tom Sawyer Park Monday through Friday until the start of school.

  • Locals help East defeat West

    LOUISVILLE – The Oldham County connection was strong in the Kentucky High School Coaches Association/Gatorade East/West Junior All-Star Games Saturday at Bellarmine University.

    The East, led by North Oldham’s Dale Tingle, Oldham County’s Eric Dunlap and Brandon Mason and South Oldham’s Drew Kraemer, cruised 120-92 over the West stars made up of players from the Fifth and Sixth regions.

  • Quigley to play charity...

    Four-time state high school tennis champion Eric Quigley will play a charity exhibition match against future University of Kentucky teammate Bruno Agostinelli at 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Mark and Sarah Hyland, 7500 Briarwood Drive, Crestwood.

    The event will benefit the Apple Patch community.

  • Aces beat Yankees

    The Oldham Aces Post 39 American Legion baseball team beat the Yankees 11-3 in a tournament in Evansville, Ind., Friday. The Aces got their offense untracked behind the bat of leadoff hitter Andy Wood.

    Wood hit and home run and had a pair of doubles to drive in three runs and lead the Aces to the win.

    Mike Davis also had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs.

    BUCKNER – Every Monday the Oldham County Piranhas – 164 strong – take to the water for a Louisville Swim Association meet.

    Whether the meet is home at the county’s aquatics center or another pool, it takes a small army of parent volunteers to insure meets run smoothly.
