  • South sweeps

GOSHEN – Brice Jewett never doubted himself or his teammates.

The South Oldham senior guard led a comeback Friday that saw the Dragons overcome a poor first half to beat North Oldham 73-56 and win the 29th District title.

“We kind of let our emotions get the best of us early in the game,” Jewett said. “We just had to relax and play. I think our senior class has been together since the sixth grade and we just had the experience to get the job done.”

  • Shelby upsets South

INDEPENDENCE – On a night when luck and good fortune abandoned them, the South Oldham Lady Dragons couldn’t quite make enough breaks of their own as they were upset 43-42 in overtime Monday by Shelby County in the opening round of the Eighth Region tourney.

“If the game had ended one second earlier we would have been a lot better off,” SOHS coach Frank Wright said. “It was a game where we had some opportunities and just didn’t capitalize on them.”
