  • McDonald's tourney

BUCKNER – The Ronald McDonald Classic basketball tourney takes on an international flavor Saturday when Oldham County High School takes on an Australian team.

The 8 p.m. game will serve as the nightcap of a four-game event at OCHS that raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House in Louisville.

The Ronald McDonald House offers housing to families with members receiving medical treatment at one of Louisville hospital complexes. The center houses thousands of families annually at a fraction of the cost of lodging it would take to stay elsewhere.

  • South sweeps state

LEXINGTON – Thomas Catalano wasn’t the top runner for South Oldham Saturday, but he was the most important in more ways than one.

Catlalano’s 37th-place finish helped the Dragons secure the 2A team state title over Covington Catholic and North Oldham.

The boys’ title added to a banner day for the SOHS program as the Lady Dragons dominated the girls’ race to win a second-straight state title.

  • OCHS holds off J-town to advance

  • Colonels facing Bulldogs for...

BUCKNER – The Oldham County High School football team has faced plenty of challenges this year and managed to overcome most of them.

None of those challenges, however, may equal what faces the Colonels at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Elizabethtown when they go to John Hardin High School for the regionaltitle.

“They’re fast, they’re athletic and they have a ton of players at every position,” OCHS coach Matt Brown said. “They are just a very good football team.”
