    SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.--- Locals covering the Little League World Series for years said all around Lamade Stadium that they’d never seen anything like the crowd on hand. The game was even pushed back to 8 p.m. to accommodate the large number of fans.

                And none of it fazed pitcher Griffin McLarty.

    CRESTWOOD – South Oldham didn’t have to wait long to get some payback on the team that knocked it out of the playoffs one year ago.

    The Dragons (1-0) took a 17-0 second quarter lead and held on to defeat Bullit Central (0-1) 32-15 Friday night in Crestwood.

    The players entered Walsh Park about 6 p.m. Saturday surrounded by an escort of emergency service vehicles with sirens blaring and lights flashing.

    Griffin McLarty has had a week any kid would dream about.

    Wednesday, the North Oldham LL right-hander celebrated his 13th birthday by leading his team to an 8-0 Great Lakes division semifinal win over Michigan.

    Saturday in the Great Lakes championship game McLarty was even better, both on the mound and at bat.

    Playing in front of a worldwide audience on ESPN2, North Oldham cruised to an 8-0 victory over Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. in the Great Lakes division semifinals Wednesday afternoon at Stokely Field in Indianapolis.

    The star for the day was McLarty.
