  • Two of region's best meet

    Oldham County and South Oldham’s boys go into their meeting at 7:45 p.m. Friday with quality wins under their belts.

    OC recently finished third in the Surf Division of the Surf ‘N’ Slam Tournament in San Diego, beating teams from Florida and California.

    Meanwhile South is coming off a title two weekends ago in the John Fendley Classic and a third-place finish in last weekend’s Lindsey Wilson College Holiday Classic.

    South and OC are ranked first and third in Region 8 by the Courier-Journal.

  • Lady Colonels out for revenge vs...

    Oldham County’s girls seemed on their way to a District title last February, leading South Oldham by 14 points in the fourth quarter of the district title game.

    But the Lady Dragons came back and guard Abbey VanZant hit a buzzer-beater to take down OC, 46-44.

    The Lady Colonels will have a chance for revenge at 6 p.m. Friday when the rivals meet in Crestwood.

    The game will be broadcast live online at pegasussportsky.com.

    LOUISVILLE – County swimmers dominated the pool Friday night in Louisville.

    North Oldham, South Oldham and Oldham County finished first, second and third respectively, in the 2nd Annual Oldham County Invitational at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

    North’s women finished first in the eight-team meet with a score of 204, followed by OC (154) and South (153).

    Meanwhile South (203) won the men’s meet, out-pacing North (167) and OC (124).

  • Iroquois handles North Oldham

    GOSHEN – North Oldham has set a pattern this year of playing ugly in the first half only to storm back in the second. That’s how last month the Mustangs beat North Hardin and South Warren and how they nearly beat Male.

    But Saturday night North followed up an awful first half with a second period that was just as poor.

  • Figg, Metcalfe named 2nd-team...

    Two county offensive linemen received second-team all-state nods from the Associated Press Thursday.

    South Oldham senior Chris Figg and North Oldham senior Austin Metcalfe were named second-team all-state offensive linemen in the AP's annual list of Kentucky's best high school football players.

    Figg, the son of South line coach and former University of Louisville center Carey Figg, was also named second-team all-state by the Courier-Journal last week. Metcalfe was named third-team all-state by the C-J.

  • McMurtrey good shot on the court...

    It wasn’t long after Jace Bryant took the Oldham County girls basketball coaching job in 2012 that he found out Ashley McMurtrey would be his star player.

    “As soon as I got the job people told me about her,” Bryant said.
