  • Football: North holds off South...

CRESTWOOD – North Oldham put together a dominating performance Friday to keep the county crown for another year.

The Mustangs ran for more than 300 yards. They converted three of four fourth-down conversions. They became the first team all season to slow down South Oldham’s rushing offense. They didn’t give up big plays in the passing game.

Add it all up and North beat South 28-14 Friday night at Dragon Stadium, claiming the three-team county championship for the second year in a row.

  • Football: Oldham wins first home...

BUCKNER – For the uninitiated, Friday night probably sounded more like Sunday morning to anyone passing by Oldham County’s Bell Field.

A loud, repeating clang was heard for 15 minutes, much like church bells calling parishioners to worship. But instead of a call to hymns, it was a victorious melody for the OC football team, celebrating its first home victory in two years.

Each clang of the victory bell was a reminder that the Colonels were back on the winning side of things after a 55-54 victory over North Bullitt.

  • Boys golf: Mustangs run table...

PROSPECT – North Oldham had a steep task in topping its 2013 Oldham Cup performance when it hit the course to defend the title last week.

One year ago the Mustangs won the three-day, three-team title against Oldham County and South Oldham by scoring seven-and-a-half points out of a possible eight on the final day, a competition record.

North beat its own feat on Sept. 18 at Nevel Meade Golf Course, winning all eight of its matches to secure the Cup for the seventh time. North totaled 14 points overall, with OC claiming eight and South two.
